Queer rights are moving in very different directio

Queer rights are moving in very different directions around the world right now.

In Türkiye, LGBTQ+ and HIV organisations, activists and venues have faced coordinated raids and mass detentions, prompting criticism from human-rights groups and the EU.

At the same time, Hungary’s new government has begun rolling back some Orbán-era restrictions on LGBTQ+ content and has announced changes to rules that had effectively blocked gay adoption. And in Bolivia, Fabiana Justiniano and Scarlett Rocha recently became the country’s first same-sex couple to have their marriage legally recognised, although marriage equality is not yet nationwide.

Progress is never guaranteed. Rights can move forward, and they can be restricted again. That’s why solidarity across borders matters.

To queer people in Türkiye and everywhere facing repression: you are seen, you are not alone, and your rights matter. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🌍

Five years single. Five years of being played with

Five years single. Five years of being played with, stood up, ghosted, disappointed… and learning to keep my guard up. 😅

And then, about a month ago, someone appeared.

I’m not naming names — but that person knows exactly who I’m talking about. 👀

And somehow, this feels completely different.

No games. No guessing. No disappearing. Just mutual respect, kindness, honesty and a feeling of actually wanting the same thing.

After five years, the fear is still there. The little voice asking: “What if I get stood up again? What if it suddenly changes?”

But maybe the biggest difference is that this time, I’m not only wondering where this is going.

We actually talked about it.

And we both agreed that we want to see where this relationship takes us. 🫣❤️

So… no big announcement. No hard launch. No names.

Just me quietly saying: I’m really looking forward to what comes next.

And you know who you are. 😉

🌍🏳️‍🌈 QUEER NEWS AROUND THE WORLD

Two countries. Two very different directions.

🇹🇷 In Turkey, LGBTQ+ organisations, activists and queer spaces are facing a massive crackdown. Raids, arrests, blocked websites and increasing repression — once again justified under the language of “protecting family values”.

🇭🇺 Meanwhile, Hungary is moving in another direction. The new government is taking steps to roll back anti-LGBTQ+ laws introduced under Viktor Orbán, including restrictions on LGBTQ+ representation and the effective ban on gay adoption.

These developments show us something important: progress is never guaranteed — but neither is regression permanent.

Our rights can be attacked. They can also be won back.

That’s why we need to stay informed, stay loud and stand in solidarity with queer communities everywhere. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

BEING AN ARTIST
doesn’t mean you have to accept every negative comment.

Being visible can be a privilege.
Having a platform can be a privilege.
And being able to speak up can be a privilege too.

I believe in using that visibility.
In starting conversations.
In speaking up when something matters.

But visibility doesn’t mean giving people unlimited access to you.

You don’t have to tolerate disrespect just because you put yourself out there.

Being public doesn’t make you public property.

Artists have boundaries.
Artists have feelings.
Artists have rights.

You are allowed to speak up.
You are allowed to delete comments.
You are allowed to block people.
You are allowed to protect your space.

Having a voice doesn’t mean you have to accept every voice directed at you.

Being an artist still means being human.

Vor Kurzem habe ich erfahren, dass die AfD ein Foto von mir auf einem ihrer Flyer verwendet.

Ein ziemlich befremdliches Gefühl –

Nach aktueller Einschätzung sind meine rechtlichen Möglichkeiten möglicherweise begrenzt, weil sich der Inhalt des Flyers nicht direkt gegen mich richtet. Trotzdem lasse ich das nicht einfach so stehen. Ich bin dazu mit der Fotografin des Bildes in Kontakt und hole rechtliche Beratung ein, um zu prüfen, welche Schritte möglich sind.

Vor allem möchte ich @herzallerliebsttattoo danken, die den Flyer gesehen, erkannt und mir geschickt hat. Genau das ist wichtig.

Wenn ihr irgendwo seht, dass Bilder von queeren Personen, Aktivist*innen oder anderen Menschen ohne deren Wissen in politischen Zusammenhängen verwendet werden: Schaut nicht weg. Informiert die betroffenen Personen. Sprecht darüber. Dokumentiert es.

Vielleicht können wir nicht jeden einzelnen Fall verhindern. Aber wir können aufmerksam sein, füreinander einstehen und dafür sorgen, dass solche Dinge nicht unbemerkt bleiben.

Ich werde jedenfalls nicht aufhören, dort, wo es möglich ist, dagegen vorzugehen – und meine Stimme dafür zu nutzen, unsere Community zu schützen, sichtbar zu machen und zu stärken.

Una de las cosas que más me emociona de mi trabajo es poder moverme entre diferentes países, ciudades y comunidades. Vivir en Madrid, trabajar internacionalmente y al mismo tiempo volver a Austria para momentos como este me parece algo realmente precioso. 🌍✨

Eigentlich fehlen mir noch immer die Worte, weil ich mir denke: Wirklich ich?

Beim Diversity Ball durfte ich gemeinsam mit einer weiteren Person den 1. Preis beim „Preis der Vielfalt“ entgegennehmen.

Für eine Rede war leider keine Zeit, deshalb zumindest hier ein Gedanke, der mich sehr begleitet:

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” – Dolly Parton

Für mich bedeutet Sichtbarkeit, Räume einzunehmen, Menschen zu verbinden und auch dann weiterzumachen, wenn es unbequem wird.

Und wie Marsha P. Johnson sagte:

“No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.”

Dieser Preis bedeutet mir unglaublich viel. Danke an alle, die mich auf diesem Weg begleiten. ❤️

To me, visibility means taking up space, connecting people and continuing even when it becomes uncomfortable.
